Richard Wharton Is the New Dr. Rolf on DAYS OF OUR LIVES
There’s a new Dr. Rolf on DAYS OF OUR LIVES!
In the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, they’re reporting that Richard Wharton is replacing William Utay in the role beginning in the episode scheduled to air on Friday, July 22.
Utay debuted as Stefano’s mad scientist Dr. Wilhelm Rolf back in 1997. And while the character was killed off in 2003, like many Salem residents, he resurfaced again in 2007 and has continued to pop up in the years since.
Wharton’s face may feel familiar to viewers because the actor has an extensive resume that includes roles in primetime series like WILL & GRACE, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, CARNIVALE, NIP/TUCK, THE MENTALIST, BONES, CRIMINAL MINDS, HACKS, and AMERICAN CRIME STORY.
DAYS isn’t even Wharton’s daytime debut as his IMDb page lists a series of episodes of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as a pawn broker in 2009 as well as one episode playing Yogi Hari in 2013.
Most recently, Rolf was responsible for creating the drug that Gwen used on Abigail and Kristen used to make Sarah believe she was Renee DuMonde. He did the right thing and mixed up an antidote to bring Sarah back to herself, but what will he be up to this time around? Will he be using his powers for good or evil? You’ll just have to tune in to find out!
