Sal Stowers Returns to DAYS OF OUR LIVES!

It’s been a year since Lani was sent to prison on DAYS OF OUR LIVES for killing her biological father, TR Coates. But now comes word that the “death” of her adoptive father, Abe, will bring the character and her portrayer, Sal Stowers, back to Salem.

According to the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, Stowers will reprise her role starting Tuesday, July 4, when Lani is temporarily released from prison to attend Abe’s memorial service. As a bonus, while she’s out of the slammer on furlough, Lani will also get to celebrate her anniversary with Eli.

“I was extremely grateful that the show asked me to come back,” Stowers said. “I was happy and excited because I knew I was going to get to see everyone who is very dear to me and get to step back into Lani’s shoes.”

The Cycle 9 winner of the reality competition series AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, Stowers transitioned from a successful modeling career to acting, appearing in primetime shows like THE EXES, NEW GIRL, and MR.BOX OFFICE. She joined the cast of ALL MY CHILDREN’s online revival in 2013 as Cassandra Foster, the daughter of legacy character Angie Hubbard, and was cast on DAYS in September 2015. She exited as Lani in June 2016 but was back on the canvas by the end of the year.

Last year, Stowers and Lamon Archey (Eli) made the mutual decision to part ways with DAYS when their respective contracts were up. Stowers made her final appearance on July 1, 2022, and Archey exited later that same week. He returned to Salem for the soap’s Juneteenth episode earlier this month, and now Stowers has followed behind him — if only for a short reprisal.

“I loved playing Lani,” the actress added. “She’s a big part of my life. The show asking me back was a beautiful surprise.”

Keep watching DAYS to see if Lani’s temporary release for Abe’s memorial service might lead to a more permanent return once she’s released from prison!
