Andrea Bogart Looks Back on Her First Day as Abby on GH
The actual anniversary isn’t until Oct. 5, but that didn’t stop Andrea Bogart from reminiscing about her debut on GENERAL HOSPITAL in September! “Anyone remember my first day as Abby Haver on GH with the wonderfully talented Chad Duell (Michael)?” she asked on Instagram, sharing a couple of photos from that initial episode. “That day was full of magic and really I had no idea how much at that time.
“Call it kismet, the stars aligned for me that day… and one incredible casting agent, Mark Teschner, is to thank,” Bogart added. “I didn’t know Mark graciously had been keeping me in mind for roles after testing for parts years prior that I didn’t get. This is a dream to hear for an actor.”
The actress also admitted that while first days are often a bundle of nerves, she immediately clicked with co-star Duell and felt at home. “Chad was so talented and a clear understanding of how I wanted to bring Abby to life that day washed over me with confidence and grace,” Bogart revealed. “The head writer at the time, Bob Guza, called me in after my first day and said, ‘Are you ready?’ I was confused. He said, ‘Get ready to work. We all saw magic happen on the screen with you and Chad and we are excited to write for you. Another actor’s dream to hear!”
So what initially began as a brief appearance turned into a year-long run that came to an end in December 2011 when Abby was tragically killed. But Bogart remains grateful for the time she had in Port Charles. “I went on to have one of the best, hard-working, and really fun years of my life,” she declared. “Chad and I had the best time. Two episodes turned into 120 during the next year and a half. I’m forever grateful for everything that job was and all the pieces to the puzzle that aligned to make it possible.
“Thank you everyone and the fans,” Bogart concluded. “You continue to support me in all I do and always send sweet messages about missing Abby. I often miss my #Mabby days.” Michael’s love life is complicated enough right now, but maybe Abby’s got a long-lost twin out there somewhere to make it even worse?
