What Happened to Abby on GENERAL HOSPITAL
Abby Haver was on GENERAL HOSPITAL a decade ago but fans still fondly remember the young woman and her unfortunate end. The character was played by actress Andrea Bogart from October 2010 until her exit from GH in 2011.
Abigail Martha “Abby” Haver was introduced as Candy, a stripper who was a friend of Sam McCall’s. Sam set Abby up with Michael Corinthos, and despite a disastrous first date, the pair continued to run into each other around Port Charles and soon got to know each other better. Eventually, they started dating, and Michael’s mother, Carly Corinthos, immediately disapproved due to their age difference. She tried interfering, but Michael and Abby both warned her to stay out of it.
Abby’s ex-boyfriend, Brandon, tried to rape her and when Michael heard her screams he snapped and attacked Brandon until Jason Morgan pulled him off the guy. Michael later explained to Abby that he was suffering PTSD after being raped by a fellow inmate in prison. Abby offered Michael her full support and decided to better her life and quit her job as a stripper. Their relationship deepened and they finally made love for the first time. Edward Quartermaine gave both of them jobs at ELQ, but while Michael soon resigned, Abby decided to stay on.
When several of Abby’s friends from the strip club were attacked and hospitalized, Michael feared for Abby’s safety and convinced Tracy Quartermaine to send her out of town on business. While Abby was excited for her first business trip, while calling Michael from Chicago, a load fell off of a crane above her! Michael and Sam rushed to the hospital and was grief-stricken when they were directed to the morgue. Michael blamed himself for Abby’s death as he was the one who sent her away, but eventually came to terms with it and later scattered Abby’s ashes in New Zealand as they’d talked about visiting there one day.
