Expect to see more made-for-TV movies from GENERAL HOSPITAL star Cameron Mathison (Drew) in the future! The soap hunk — also known for his role of ALL MY CHILDREN’s Ryan Lavery — has signed a multi-picture deal with Great American Media.
According to Deadline, Mathison’s contract with the media company will span several years and include projects across Great American Media’s platforms, including cable channels Great American Family and Great American Faith & Living, and streaming service Great American Pure Flix.
“Having collaborated with Cameron on many past projects, I am thrilled to welcome him home to Great American Media and look forward to working with him on content that our viewers will love for years to come,” Bill Abbott, President & CEO of Great American Media, told Deadline.
Mathison added that it is important to him to create “well-crafted, beautiful stories. I am grateful to be back at Great American Media and to collaborate with some of the best creative teams in entertainment to make heartwarming content everyone can enjoy.”
The actor has starred in more than two dozen original made-for-television movies, including GAF’s A Merry Christmas Wish and A Kindhearted Christmas. The good news for GH fans is that his new deal likely won’t affect his role on the soap, since working on these television movies has been a side hustle ever since he joined the show.
It’s not clear, however, if Mathison will be able to continue starring opposite Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) in their Hannah Swensen movie franchise for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. In the pair’s most recent film, A Zest for Death, Mike and Hannah reunited but agreed to take their rekindled romance day by day. The detective Mathison plays in those films could possibly be replaced by another love interest for Sweeney’s titular character.
