Chad Duell Reveals Why Michael Had To Be Recast on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Viewers were startled when GENERAL HOSPITAL announced that the role of Michael Corinthos was temporarily being played by Robert Adamson in the June 1 episode. But after sharing a link to the news on his Twitter along with some applause emojis, regular portrayer Chad Duell reassured his fans.

“I’m good,” he tweeted. “I’ll be back filming next week. Was COVID-related. Robert did great.” While the actor didn’t go into any further detail regarding whether he tested positive for COVID or if it was just a scare and production was erring on the side of caution, it’s good to know he’s fine and will be back on set soon.

Many soap fans recognized temporary fill-in Adamson from his stint as Noah Newman over on CBS sudser THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. “I guess the cat’s out of the bag,” he joked on Instagram after his first episode aired. “Thanks, GH, for the hospitality and Chad for literally letting me walk a week in your shoes. Huge shoes, brother. I was exhausted.”

Adamson also admitted that stepping into the climax of the visitation hearing storyline was daunting. “Had no idea what the hell I was talking about but we got the job done,” he laughed. “Hope everyone can enjoy the twist. Take it with a grain of salt and don’t judge too harshly!”

Obviously, with the hearing being a front-burner storyline, GH couldn’t postpone it until Duell was available to shoot again, so another temporary recast was required in order to keep from interrupting the flow of the storytelling. Thankfully, like all the other recent temporary recasts — Alexis, Sasha, Marshall, Brando, etc — it’s only for a limited time and Duell will be back as Michael before you know it!
