Drew Cheetwood Opens Up About His Family

Tags:

Thanksgiving may have been last month, but GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Drew Cheetwood is still feeling plenty blessed as we get further into December! The actor — who played Milo Giambetti on the soap on and off from 2016 to 2020 — shared a beautiful gratitude post on Instagram, opening up about his lovely family.

In his post, Cheetwood shared three images of him and “his girls”: his wife, Jenna, and their daughters Grace (10), Josephine (7), and Everly (5). The family recently moved from the house they called home for over a decade, and the new beginning seemed to have the actor-turned-realtor feeling appreciative. “You ever think to yourself, ‘How did I not have these people at one point in my life?’” he wrote. “Like, it’s almost inconceivable your life existed minus the most important components of your life now. I know I do.”

Cheetwood went on to marvel about how he was once a 10-year-old, emulating basketball great Penny Hardaway by slam-dunking a foam basketball on a hoop hanging on the back of his bedroom door, all without Jenna and his daughters in his life. “I was going to school and working without them. I was getting wedgies in junior high and football accolades in high school,” he continued. “I went to college for a bit and dropped out. Flew to L.A. alone. Started in Hollywood. Learned a lot about life, fast, all without them.”

The actor’s life changed forever when he met Jenna at a 2007 charity event for the Desi Geestman Foundation, an organization that offered support for children with cancer and their families. Jenna’s brother died from a rare form of bone cancer when he was just 13, and she was a supporter of the foundation. “I think about all the luck it took… the improbabilities… good fortune and blessings. I can’t help but believe God had a hand in it all,” Cheetwood shared. “There’s just too much nuance for it to be by ‘chance.’”

So what had the former GH star feeling so sentimental? The family recently posed for photos at their new property, and that had Cheetwood — who now works as a personal trainer as well as a real estate agent in Michigan — taking stock of where he started and how far he’s come. “As I reflect on these pictures, I catch myself smiling and ask, ‘What did I ever do without them?’ It’s that perspective tonight for me,” he confessed. “Graditude… joy… love… Somehow a snot-nosed kid from the wrong side of the cornfield in Ohio got this crew and I couldn’t be more aware or grateful.”

We are so happy that Cheetwood has built a wonderful life with his family in Michigan, and we hope that he will continue to pop back into GH as he did for both this year’s tribute to the beloved Sonya Eddy and the 2023 Nurses Ball!
