GH’s Sebastian Roché Adds a Korean Soap to His Resume!

As speculation ran rampant about who was after Sonny on GENERAL HOSPITAL, some viewers threw out the name of Jerry Jacks, but if the villain ever returns to the soap they’ll probably have to recast as former portrayer, Sebastian Roché, has been keeping very busy with other projects. His latest, a Korean drama titled QUEEN OF TEARS, premieres Saturday, March 9, on Netflix!

“대박!!!” Roché exclaimed on Instagram when the story broke. (The Korean translates to “Oh my God!”) “This was such a fun project for me. Thank you, Studio Dragon, Netflix Korea, and Netflix. 정말 영광이었습니다!! [It was truly an honor!]”

QUEEN OF TEARS is a new K-Drama that stars Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won as a couple whose marriage is crumbling until they experience something that rekindles the romance betwen them. Deadline is reporting that Roché will be playing the role of Dr. Braun, a German doctor with an interesting relationship to the couple.

K-dramas are soaps that air in primetime like telenovelas and encompass many different genres like action, fantasy, historical, medical, legal, or even horror. While initially viewed only domestically, in recent years, the numerous South Korean productions have become popular around the world. They’ve even started including actors from other countries, like Roché.

Roché took over the role of Jerry Jacks on GH back in January 2007 and made sporadic appearances in the years that followed, his last being in December 2015. After leaving the soap, the talented actor found great success in primetime with roles on series like THE YOUNG POPE, THE ORIGINALS, THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, and BIG SKY. He can currently be seen as Father Renaud in the YELLOWSTONE spinoff 1923 with Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
