Fans who enjoyed Cameron’s return to GENERAL HOSPITAL and hoped he’d be back again soon might have a bit longer to wait as actor William Lipton has an exciting new gig! He and the other members of his real-life rock band The Runarounds will be starring in a new Amazon series titled… THE RUNAROUNDS!

“Where are we going fellas?” Lipton exclaimed on Instagram when the news broke. “To the top, Johnny!” (This is a quote from the iconic rock band The Beatles, where the rest of the group is answering John Lennon’s question.)

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has ordered an eight-episode series of THE RUNAROUNDS, a musical drama that follows a band of high-school graduates trying to make it in the music industry. It will star the group’s members, which include Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, as well as Lilah Pate and Kelly Pereira.

While the series is from OUTER BANKS co-creator Jonas Pate, it is not actually a spinoff of the Netflix drama, even though The Runarounds did play during an episode of that series. But like OUTER BANKS, THE RUNAROUNDS will be set in and filmed in Wilmington, NC.

“When we first met with Jonas and Skydance about The Runarounds, it was immediately clear that they brought us a special show featuring an incredibly talented cast and real-life band,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “We are very much looking forward to sharing the exhilarating journey of The Runarounds with our global Prime Video customers.”

After forming in 2021 for a casting call to appear on OUTER BANKS, The Runarounds have recorded an EP and gone on tour, and the band even appeared on GH back in September 2022 when Cameron performed at the Savoy! As they are only just beginning production on the series, a premiere date has not yet been announced. So keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates!
