Inside Steve Burton's Return to General Hospital

Jason made his explosive return to GENERAL HOSPITAL in the March 4 episode and after it aired, the soap shared a peek behind-the-scenes of Steve Burton’s first day back on set that also includes insight from some of the stars involved in the thrilling storyline!

“It just feels really good to be back on set… with my people!” Burton exclaimed at the opening of the video, followed by clips of him embracing some crew members as he walked around the set.

The actor has previously explained that the story that will play out on screen now is not what was originally planned, and now he teased that Jason isn’t the same guy he was when he left. “I’m definitely approaching the character differently,” he revealed. “I was able to sit down with the headwriter, who really talked about kind of what’s happened, what the state of mind is for Jason and it was very helpful. The story’s awesome and I’m looking forward to it!”

Laura Wright (Carly) is excited to have her castmate back in the building and is looking forward to seeing what happens next for “Jarly.” “Jason coming back into Carly’s world,” she mused. “Wow It fires up the part of Carly that fights for him and believes in him and stands next to him no matter what. And not everybody can handle that.”

The actress added that it’s Jason’s integrity and loyalty that makes people love him — including countless GH fans — and Maurice Benard (Sonny) agreed with the sentiment.

“It’s like the bad boy you want to fix,” he said. “But he’s a different bad boy, obviously, than I am. He’s a sweeter bad boy. And the character’s a very honest character. He has a lot of integrity. And I think people connect with that. Steve’s a damn good actor so that all combines.”

Of course, none of the actors are letting slip any details of the twists and turns to come in the storyline! “From what I’ve already played, it’s pretty intense,” Bernard teased. “That’s all I can say!” Burton concluded with: “Stay tuned. It’s gonna be awesome!”
