Soap fans have been enjoying some good news recently, with CBS launching a new daytime soap, The Gates, as well as a revival of the popular primetime sudser, Melrose Place! Currently, Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga, and Laura Leighton are attached to the project to reprise their roles as Amanda, Jo, and Sydney, respectively.

The original series of Melrose Place ran on Fox from 1992-1999, and in the final episode, the characters of Amanda and Peter faked their deaths to avoid prison and got married on a beach, presumably to live happily ever after. So if Amanda is resurfacing, does that mean Dr. Peter Burns might as well? Portrayer Jack Wagner revealed that he would be up for reprising his role.

“You never really die on a soap, right?” Wagner told People. “How they unfold those two characters, it’d be fantastic how they sort of tell that story… That was a great finale to be included in, especially with Heather. If I’m asked to come back, I’d absolutely entertain that.”

Over the course of his career, Wagner has earned legions of soap fans starting with his first roles of Frisco Jones on General Hospital and Warren Lockridge on Santa Barbara. After Melrose Place came to an end, the actor returned to daytime to play Nick Marone on The Bold & The Beautiful. More recently, he has appeared in the Hallmark Channel Wedding March movie series with former Melrose Place castmate Josie Bissett, and stars as Bill Avery on the Hallmark series When Calls the Heart.

Melrose Place was brought back by The CW in 2009, but it only lasted for one season. Towards the end of its run, Locklear returned for a special guest appearance as Amanda, who claimed she’d gotten bored of Peter and all the sun and sand. But they never mentioned exactly what became of Dr. Burns, so perhaps for this new Melrose Place series, Wagner could come back as Peter to turn Amanda’s life upside down!
