Kimberly McCullough Celebrates Her Emmy Nomination!

Tags:

Please join us in congratulating GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin) on her Emmy nomination! While she has previously won Emmys for acting, this is the first time she’s nominated for her work behind the camera.

“HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES got nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Young Teen Series,” McCullough shared on Instagram with a photo of her congratulatory note from Disney Branded Television. “To say I’m proud to be a part of this team with Tim Federle and Zach Dodes is an understatement.

“Congratulations to our cast and crew and best of luck at the ceremony this weekend!” she continued. “On a personal note, thank you to all of these inspirational Disney execs named on this card. It’s an honor to work for this company. And to be nominated as a producer, well, that’s something I didn’t see coming.”

The comments on McCullough’s post filled up with congratulatory messages from fans and friends, including her TV mom, Finola Hughes (Anna), and former GH co-star Jason Thompson (ex-Patrick; Billy, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS). “Maybe not see coming, but makes complete sense,” he remarked, “You’re very good at everything. Congratulations. Proud and inspired by you.”

During her time on GH, McCullough earned six Daytime Emmy Awards for playing Robin Scorpio, and took home the trophy twice, first in 1989, and then again in 1996. She has directed multiple episodes of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES, but it is in her role as supervising and co-executive producer for the Disney+ show that she finds herself up for an Emmy in the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. This is the first expansion of the Emmy Award competition since 1979 and will award the best in children’s and family programming.

Competing with HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES in the Outstanding Young Teen Series are DOUGIE KAMEALOHA, M.D., FIRST DAY, HEARTSTOPPER, and THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, so please join us in wishing McCullough and everyone else on the team the best of luck!
