GH’s Nicholas Alexander Chavez Says Goodbye to Sydney Mikayla

As Sydney Mikayla’s final episode as Trina on GENERAL HOSPITAL aired on March 17, co-star Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer) had to mark the bittersweet occasion. “It’s a very special #Sprina day today!” he tweeted, using the smush nickname coined by fans of the Spencer and Trina pairing on the soap.

“Sydney is such a bright light in this world and my heart is so full of feelings of respect and admiration for her,” Chavez declared. “I’m going to miss you very much but so excited for your life to continue and flourish.”

Mikayla was already part of the GH teen scene when Chavez joined the cast as Spencer Cassadine in July 2021, taking over for the very popular Nicolas Bechtel. The role of Trina Robinson had been played by Tiana Le for a handful of episodes in 2017 and 2018, but was recast with Mikayla in February 2019. Trina ran into a mysterious intruder at the art gallery and then later encountered a handsome young man calling himself Victor, not realizing that they were one and the same. Trina wasn’t happy to then learn that “Victor” was really Spencer Cassadine, but things got even worse when he introduced her to his girlfriend, Esme!

Spencer and Trina clearly have feelings for each other, but with Esme still in the mix and determined to keep them apart, there’s going to be a rocky road ahead for this potential pairing! Although Mikayla has decided to leave GH to focus on her education, Trina isn’t going anywhere, so the role was recast again, with Tabyana Ali set to take over later in March. But while Chavez has been cast in a new movie, he assured GH fans he wasn’t going anywhere!

So while the March 17 scenes between Mikayla and Chavez as Trina visits Spencer in Spring Ridge again will be the last for those actors, stay tuned to GH to see how the new Trina navigates her complicated relationship with Spencer as the storyline continues to unfold!
