GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Réal Andrews Shares a Health Update

Tags:

When the role of Taggert on GENERAL HOSPITAL was briefly recast, fans began speculating wildly online about what happened to Réal Andrews and wondering if he was okay or if he was sick. To squash the rumors, the actor took to social media posting a video to his fans to reassure them everything was fine. In fact, it’s better than fine!

“There’s been a lot of speculation, a lot of rumors going around about my health,” Andrews said. “First and foremost, I just got my results back for my year check-in and I was very happy. I am absolutely cancer-free. Okay? I am probably in the best shape of my life. So I appreciate all your prayers and support and everything but I just didn’t want these rumors going sideways and stuff. I’m very healthy.”

Viewers began speculating after actor Asante Jones stepped into the role of Taggert in the Dec. 17 episode, which unfortunately happened to be the one where Trina was reunited with the father she’d been told was dead. And while fans were disappointed not to see Andrews acting in those scenes opposite on-screen daughter Syndey Mikayla (Trina), they were also concerned about what happened to Taggert’s portrayer.

Given that GH recently recast the role of Lucas Jones, some worried Taggert had also been suddenly recast. And given that co-star Briana Nicole Henry (Jordan) announced that she’d come down with COVID-19 after Thanksgiving, fans also worried Andrews could have contracted the dangerous virus. And longtime fans of the actor know that last year at this time, he was undergoing cancer surgery. Thankfully, that surgery was successful, and the actor remains cancer-free and healthy today!

So stay tuned to GH to watch Andrews back in the role of Taggert to see what happens next!
