Ryan Paevey Previews His New Movie, “Two Tickets to Paradise” (EXCLUSIVE)

Getting dumped is never fun, especially on your wedding day. But that’s what happens to both Josh and Hannah in the new Hallmark Channel original movie, Two Tickets to Paradise! Starring soap opera alums Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and Ashley Williams (Dani, AS THE WORLD TURNS), the feel-good movie takes a wedding-day disaster and turns it into something gloriously romantic — all against the beautiful backdrop of Hawaii.

Soaps In Depth recently caught up with Paevey and got a sneak peek from the former GH star about his latest film for the cable network. ”It’s about two folks who start out unlucky in love,” he previewed, speaking in character. “We’re both getting married on the same day — not to each other — and get stood up. We end up at the same park on the same bench, lamenting our situations. She’s talking about all of this stuff she was looking forward to, drinking champagne and the honeymoon… And I’m like, ‘Well, you can still go on the honeymoon.’ She’s like ‘I’m not going to go by myself.’ Why not? Just go!”

After convincing Hannah to not cancel her plans, Josh decides to take himself on the honeymoon that his ex-fiancée didn’t want to go on. “It’s going to be how we get over [getting dumped]. Thus begins this trend of us — well, I guess it began with us ending up at the park at the same time — of us ending up at the same place at the same time.”

First, it’s the airport. Then it’s the same hotel in Hawaii. A hotel that focuses on couples. “We get mistaken for a couple early on, but we kind of stay in that space to reduce the awkwardness of being single at a couples’ resort,” Paevey explained. “And then slowly but surely decide there might be something here between us.”

Paevey added that taping Two Tickets to Paradise on location in Hawaii “was amazing. I’ve been going to Hawaii since I was tiny. And I know Oahu pretty well, so for me, it was great to be back there again.”

The actor even got to do his own stunts! “There’s surfing in the film and I managed to convince them to let me do the surfing,” he smiled. “I was going to bring my board and surf anyways. I got to surf in this one. I wish the waves were a little bigger the day that we taped; I could have given you guys a show.”

As for his leading lady, Paevey had nothing but praise for his fellow soap grad turned Hallmark star. “Ashley’s hysterical. She’s super funny, really sweet,” he shared. “We actually met for the first time at the last RomaDrama convention in Nashville. We were kind of joking, ‘We’re going to end up on a movie one of these days.’ And then this one came along. We had a lot of fun. It was a very charmed six weeks of life for me.”

Two Tickets to Paradise premieres on Saturday, June 25, at 8 p.m. as part of Hallmark Channel’s “Summer Nights” programming. Check out a preview of the movie below, and then tune in to see Josh and Hannah fall in love after being stood up on their wedding days!
