GENERAL HOSPITAL Alum Tequan Richmond Is a Dad!
Just a week after announcing that he was expecting his first child, GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Tequan Richmond (ex-TJ) is a father! The actor and his BOOMERANG co-star Tetona Jackson have welcomed their first child, a little girl they have named Harlie Giselle Richmond.
Jackson announced her daughter’s birth in a March 10 Instagram post, sharing two photos of the newborn gripping onto her mother’s finger with a tiny little hand. In the second photo, Harlie’s arm is bent, showing off her adorable baby rolls and giving a glimpse of a tuft of dark hair. “I have never felt a love like this,” wrote Jackson.
Richmond and Jackson play on again/off again couple Bryson and Simone on the BET series, which is a next-generation sequel of the 1992 film by the same name that starred Eddie Murphy. The reel-life and real-life pair just announced their pregnancy earlier this month when they shared beautiful black-and-white photos from a family photo shoot where her beau is lovingly cradling her baby bump.
Richmond was the second actor to play GH’s TJ Ashford, taking over the role from Krys Meyer in the summer of 2012. The actor played Jordan’s son and Molly’s boyfriend on the soap until the fall of 2018, when he was cast on BOOMERANG. (Tajh Bellow was then cast in the role, and he remains TJ to this day.) But the BET show wasn’t the first show that Richmond and Jackson had worked on together: The actors were both in the ensemble cast of the Hulu series ALL NIGHT, which followed a group of teenagers during an overnight lock-in graduation party. After that series ended, the two remained close friends.
“Happy birthday to my castmate/best friend,” Richmond wrote in an Instagram post on Jackson’s birthday in January 2020. “I’m proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished.”
While BOOMERANG has yet to be renewed for a third season by BET, we’re glad to see that Richmond and Jackson have found love, even if their alter egos are still waiting for a happily ever after of their own! Please join us in congratulating the new parents!
