Tonja Walker Responds to Olivia Jerome’s Death on GENERAL HOSPITAL
Fans weren’t the only ones surprised when news came that Olivia Jerome had been attacked and killed in prison on GENERAL HOSPITAL — so was her portrayer, Tonja Walker! “Looks like I died,” she posted to X/Twitter after the episode aired. “Oh, what a rip! I wish we could have actually shot some great story but again, another missed opportunity… unless it’s not. I guess you never know. It wouldn’t be the first time.”
Walker made her daytime debut on CAPITOL in 1982 and in 1988 joined the cast of GH in the role of villainess Olivia Jerome. After the character was killed off in 1990, Olivia made a surprise return to the soap in 2017 for a short stint where it was revealed that she wasn’t really dead after all and was out for revenge.
Olivia then wound up behind bars in Pentonville, and hasn’t been seen since. However, in the Feb. 15 episode, news came that she had been killed off-camera. But some fans who had been hoping to see her get out of prison and wreak some more havoc in Port Charles refuse to believe it until they see a body.
“Well, if you see the body, let me know!” Walker told them. “They’d owe [me] a check! Even if it’s AI! LOL.” Although she then added: “If it’s true it’s kind of sad.”
Given how frequently people come back from the dead on GH, many viewers aren’t convinced that this is legit. And when one fan asked Walker if she believed her alter ego was really dead, she responded: “I have zero idea! But it would be fun to see the story and not hear it from the morgue, right?”
