It’s official: Peter August’s reign of terror in Port Charles has come to an end. Just a few months shy of his fourth anniversary with the soap, Wes Ramsey has exited GENERAL HOSPITAL! The news was first reported by Soap Opera Digest, but the actor has yet to make a public comment on his status with the soap.
Ramsey — who previously played GUIDING LIGHT’s Sam and DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Owen — made his GH debut in November 2017 as Drew and Sam’s new COO at Aurora Media. Almost immediately, Peter seemed intrigued by Drew and Jason’s history of having had their memories swapped by infamous supervillain Cesar Faison. As one of his first moves at the company, Peter hired aspiring journalist Lulu to write a story about Faison to lure the criminal mastermind back to Port Charles. Unfortunately, when Faison arrived in town, his do-gooder son, Nathan, got was shot in a hostage situation at the Crimson office while protecting his wife, Maxie… and it was revealed that Peter was actually Faison’s other son, the mysterious Henrik!
Over the next few years, a relationship with Maxie seemingly inspired Peter to turn over a new leaf, but this tiger never actually changed his stripes: He was responsible for the deaths of Drew and Franco — and that was just the tip of the iceberg! As years and years of Peter’s well-crafted lies began to unravel over the last few weeks, the writing was on the wall for Ramsey’s character as his list of enemies grew larger daily.
In the end, Peter met his maker when Finn pushed him down a flight of stairs from the hospital’s rooftop. But since Liz helped the doc cover up Peter’s death, his body has yet to be found by anyone else in Port Charles… so right now, it is technically possible that Peter could one day return to seek revenge! (Or who knows, Ramsey could return to GH in a different role like Roger Howarth just did as Austin!) Keep watching to see what happens next!
