Days of Our Lives' Jen Lilley Finalizes Adoption of Her Older Son

Just a couple weeks ago, DAYS OF OUR LIVES alum Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa) was preparing for a custody battle like something out of a soap opera when a distant relative of the younger boy they were fostering sought custody as well. But she and husband Jason Wayne found reason to celebrate on June 10 when they finalized the adoption of their older foster son. “It’s official!” Lilley tweeted with a looped video of herself and her hubby kissing their newly adopted son. The sign Lilley is holding reads: “I spent 984 days in foster care but today I am adopted” with the date below.

Lilley and her husband had first taken in their older son in 2016, and in 2018 she revealed that the appeals process had passed and there would be no more obstacles towards making it official. However it still took another year before the adoption was finalized. Which is why when one of her Twitter followers commented that she wished it was that easy to adopt in her home state of Florida, Lilly assured her that the process was definitely not smooth. “Oh trust me, it wasn’t easy,” she confided. “Almost three years and a lot of tears, more prayers than I can count, and a lot of trusting in a bigger plan. But worth every aching and heart/mind/soul-stretching moment.”

The family is currently worried about following the same path with their son’s younger brother as a distant relative could create a custody battle for the child. Hopefully, everything works out for their younger son and they can also adopt him into their family… which is going to grow by one more because Lilley is pregnant with a baby girl!
