DAYS OF OUR LIVES Renewed Through 2021
After fans were sent into a tizzy when it was reported that the cast had been taken off contract and the soap was going on a production hiatus, they can rest easy because DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been renewed! Ken Corday, the soap’s executive producer, announced to the cast on set that they had gotten a one-year offer from NBC to renew it through September 2021, Deadline is reporting.
After news broke that DAYS was halting production of the soap while also releasing the entire cast from their contracts, rumors were spreading fast and furious that the soap was soon to be cancelled. However, the actors were quick to reassure viewers that this was just a cost-cutting measure as the soap was taping eight months in advance and there was no reason to pay the actors for time when they wouldn’t actually be filming. “We’re not being cancelled,” insisted Chandler Massey (Will) at the time. “We are pausing production because we are so far ahead of schedule (and it saves us money). DAYS will still air during the entire hiatus, so you won’t miss anything!”
Of course, the question remains when producers reach out to the actors to invite them to sign new contracts with the soap, what kind of deals will be made and who, exactly, will be returning.
