Stephen Nichols Got the Best Welcome Back to DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Talk about a sweet surprise! Stephen Nichols (Patch) is back on DAYS OF OUR LIVES after an almost year-long absence and the cast, crew and fans are delighted to have Patch in Salem again. In fact, the fans are so thrilled to have Nichols back on the soap, that they sent him an absolutely incredible gift! “When I walked off the stage and saw this amazing creation, I almost plotzed.” said Nichols on Instagram. “I can’t thank you enough! You, my supporters and fans of DAYS are the absolute best. Your unending love means the world to me. You are the reason why Patch is back.”
The yummy cake is a gorgeous three dimensional hourglass, with an eye patch for added flair. The two symbols show how much Patch and DAYS are entwined. And when Nichols announced in the video: “Look at all these people gonna get a piece of cake!” the camera pans to reveal Camila Banus (Gabi), Galen Gering (Rafe), Sal Stowers (Lani), and other cast and crew in the hair and makeup room itching to get a taste of the amazing confection!
Nichols joined DAYS cast as Steven Earl “Patch’ Johnson in 1985 and left for the first time in 1990. He returned to show in June, 2006, and stayed almost three years departing in February, 2009. A mere six years later, in 2015, Patch showed back up in Salem to once again get mixed up in the drama. In June, 2018, it was announced that Patch and Nichols would be once again leaving DAYS, which broke many the hearts of many fans. Now Patch is back, and fans will be able to fall in love with him all over again when his character shows up in Salem this fall.
