Telma Hopkins to Appear on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!

It’s going to be a FAMILY MATTERS reunion when Telma Hopkins makes an appearance on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS to share scenes with Bryton James (Devon), who played her son on the popular ABC sitcom! Hopkins will be playing the role of private detective Denise Tolliver, who will reveal some shocking details about Amanda’s past. Look for her to appear in multiple episodes beginning on Tuesday, June 1.

“it is kind of like coming home,” Hopkins told Entertainment Weekly. “It is full circle. I don’t feel I have ever lost touch with him but certainly, it is nice to look across the room and see that smiling face that I am so used to. It feels like home, like family, like FAMILY MATTERS.”

James was also thrilled to reunite with his former TV mom on screen again. “When the scene started we had to act like we didn’t know each other,” he told EW, “but it has reminded me and made me feel really grateful about how long I have been able to do this because Telma is one of the reasons that I have enjoyed it for 30 years.”

Hopkins starred on FAMILY MATTERS from the first season until the fourth (though she made appearances in subsequent seasons), and James joined the cast in season two, remaining with the series until it came to an end after its ninth season, which aired on a new network, CBS, from 1997-98. Fans will also remember Hopkins from her many roles on popular TV series like TONY ORLANDO AND DAWN, BOSOM BUDDIES, and GIMME A BREAK!.

So make sure you tune in to Y&R to watch Hopkins reunite with TV son James… and also to find out what this PI has dug up about Amanda’s past!
