Melissa Claire Egan Shows Off Her Stylish New Haircut!
Fan favorite Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) has been on maternity leave from THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS since a few weeks before she welcomed her son, Caden Robert, on August 21. But her time on maternity leave is coming to an end, and the actress will soon report back to work on Y&R. But before she does that, Egan decided that a big change was in order: A new hairstyle!
An hour or so before she headed to the hair salon for her appointment, Egan sat in the front seat of her car and asked her followers via Instagram stories for some assistance in making a decision. “Really important question for you,” she asked. “What should I do with my hair? I realize there are way more important issues in the world right now. But I’m going back to work soon — yay! — and I want to switch it up. It’s been this way for a while, so what should I do?”
As she continued with her video, Egan threw out some hairstyle suggestions to her fans, clearly undecided about how to change up her extra-long tresses. “Should I cut it? Should I dye it? Should I do bangs again?” she asked. “Do I cut it… you know, the bob again? Blonde bob? Brunette bob? Get a perm? Get a mullet? What should I do? Give me your input. I’m getting my hair cut today, so I’m going to need you to respond, like now.”
Not surprisingly, Egan’s fans did not disappoint and immediately jumped aboard her hair poll with their suggestions. “I just wanted to say how appreciative I am of the investment of what I’m going to do with this head of hair today,” she posted next. “Who knew you guys hated bangs so much? Bangs are fun! Really? Right now, it seems like the blonde bob is winning. I also really wanted to go super dark again. No? Keep the suggestions coming. I’ve got an hour before I’ve gotta decide what I want to do with this mop of hair.”
In the end, Egan did go with a beautiful blonde-ish bob, pictured above. Chopping off her hair that was well past her shoulders, the Emmy nominee walked away from her stylist’s chair with a mid-length sleek blunt bob cut. And the actress also lightened up her chocolate brown locks with some blonde highlights.
Egan’s daytime career began when she played Annie Lavery on ABC’s ALL MY CHILDREN from 2006-’11. After her time in Pine Valley, she moved to Y&R, spending almost seven years in Genoa City before exiting as Chelsea in 2018. Egan returned to the soap a year later and was heavily involved in storyline right up to the point that she temporarily exited this summer to deliver her first child.
Over the years, Egan has sported a number of different hairstyles, from blonde to brunette, curly and straight, long and short, but always looks absolutely stunning in every single one of them!
