Y&R’s Melissa Claire Egan Welcomes Her First Child!

He’s here! THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) and her husband, Matt Katrosar, welcomed their first child on Aug. 21. “We are overjoyed to welcome Caden Robert Katrosar into the world!” the first-time mom revealed on Instagram in announcing her son’s birth. “Everyone is healthy and doing well, we’re so grateful for all the love and well wishes along our journey to get here. We’re awestruck by this little man and can’t believe he’s ours!”

Little Caden weighed in at 7 lbs., 7 oz., according to the proud pop’s own Instagram post. “What they say is true,” shared Katrosar. “[W]e couldn’t be more in love.”

The new parents shared the first photo of their little bundle of joy with People. “Huge thanks to all the amazing doctors and nurses at Cedars Sinai who have taken such good care of us!” the couple told the outlet.

The actress added a tongue-in-cheek statement of her own, poking fun at the birthing scenarios she’s played out on the screen as Chelsea over the years. “Although this is my first child in real life, I’ve had very dramatic on-screen births on Y&R,” she confessed. “Once after falling through a lake, I delivered my son on the show in a cabin. The other time, I went into labor at my wedding and delivered a baby right there in my wedding dress. So, this was a breeze compared to that!”

Egan, who also played ALL MY CHILDREN‘s Annie, announced back in April that she and Katrosar were expecting their first child after two heartbreaking miscarriages. Fittingly, Caden’s birth came the day before National Rainbow Baby Day, a day dedicated to babies welcomed into the world following a miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death — the metaphorical rainbow appearing after a storm. “As happy as we are,” the actress wrote in her pregnancy announcement, “the journey to get here has been filled with lots of tears, stress, sadness, helplessness, hopelessness, and two miscarriages.”

Please join us in congratulating the Katrosars on their new addition, and wish them well as they adjust to their new role as parents!
