Our thoughts are with soap vet James Hyde as he is mourning a heartbreaking death in his family. The actor — who most recently wrapped a run as Jeremy Stark on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and is perhaps best known for his role of PASSIONS hero Sam Bennett — shared on Instagram on April 16 that his brother, Tom, had died.

“My brother Tom passed away early this morning,” Hyde announced, sharing a picture of his lookalike sibling smoking a cigar and throwing up the hand sign for peace. “He was in hospice care and his son Dustyn said he passed peacefully.”

In his tribute, Hyde shared that his brother had many titles in his life. “Tom was father, grandfather, Army veteran, and a great brother to me,” the actor confessed. “Love you, Tom. You’re now with Mom and Dad. Rest in peace. God bless you.”

Hyde’s daytime experience also includes a short stint as Liam on AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1999 and ANOTHER WORLD’s Neil Johanssen, which was his soap debut in 1997. Not surprisingly, Hyde’s friends from the soap world reached out to offer their condolences. “Much love to you and the family,” wrote Greg Vaughan (Eric, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), while Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) noted, “I’m so sorry, James.” Former PASSIONS co-star Lindsay Hartley (Theresa) posted a bandaged heart emoji, and Sean Dominic (Nate, Y&R) expressed, “My deepest condolences, brother.”

Please join us in sending our condolences to Hyde and his family during this difficult time.
