When Courtney Hope (Sally) received her Supporting Actress nomination for the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards, she joined a very select group of nominees. Like her fellow THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL crossover castmate Kimberlin Brown (Sheila), Hope has now been Emmy nominated for playing the same character on two different soaps!

“Oh my gosh,” the actress exclaimed to Soaps In Depth when we pointed it out to her. “I didn’t even know that! That’s so exciting. Thank you.”

With the heartwrenching storyline of Sally losing her and Adam’s baby, Hope had an embarrassment of riches when it came to finding clips for her Emmy reel. “I submitted from the hospital from the moment that I woke up from the C-section and finding out that my baby is no longer alive,” she revealed. “Like, two scenes from that, and then the last two scenes were of me in the hospital holding the little box of trinkets from my baby and telling the nurse that I wanted to see her so I could say goodbye in person.”

Of course, there was plenty of drama and terrific performances both before and after that pivotal moment, but it’s impossible to include everything. “I know that there are people watching them and there’s so many reels,” Hope explained, “and how do I make this just right to the meat of it? Right to the moment where everything shifts and changes? Obviously, there was so much more I wanted to put in there but that’s what I went with. I hoped that those were the ones that did the story justice.”

Hope is happy for all of Y&R’s other nominees in the cast and crew, though she did admit to being disappointed that scene partner Mark Grossman (Adam) wasn’t on the list. “That whole story was really impactful for both of us to tell,” she confessed. “He’s a phenomenal actor and he brought everything he had to that entire story.”

The morning when the Emmy nominations were set to be announced, Home confided that she was starting to look for a list online when she received a call from Y&R publicist Matt Kane with the big news. And the first person she told was her parents!

“I called Mom first only because she always puts it on speakerphone for the whole family to hear,” Hope said brightly. “So I called her and she immediately went in and got my dad and then my brother was there so I told them all at one time and it was really cool. It was fun to hear everyone’s reaction at the same time and they were so thrilled. I couldn’t have done the whole journey of my career without them. So I’m just really glad that they were all together and I could tell them all at one time.”
