Y&R Stars Remember the Late Jerry Douglas

“Rest in peace my dear TV husband, Jerry Douglas,” the actress wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for the laughter all those years. Much, much, love to you and your beautiful family, Kim and Hunter, and everyone.”

Penning a lengthy tribute on Facebook, Epperson wrote, “It is with incredible sadness that I learned of the death of my TV dad, Jerry Douglas. I played Ashley for eight years and Jerry was one of the first people I met. Jerry and I worked together for eight years. As an actor, he welcomed me with open arms. He always cared, always made sure I was okay and felt comfortable. He would always squeeze my cheeks and tell me how cute I was as he would grit his teeth together in an adorable way. Jerry and I laughed one day when we realized we both had dimples on the upper part of our cheeks. Outside of the show, Jerry always welcomed a hug a cup of coffee, took time to visit with me, and always, always wanted to help anyone in any way he could. Jerry’s wit and sense of humor make me laugh to this day. I love and adore you, Jerry. You are missed! I am praying for you, Kym, a friend and precious wife who is mourning this deep loss. I am praying for your whole family, Sweetie. Thank you for the years of love and laughter. #RIP.”

As the daughter of Y&R creators William J. Bell and Lee Phillips Bell, the actress knew Douglas from the time she was a little girl, long before she ever made her debut on the soap. “Sending my love and deepest condolences to Kym, Hunter, Avra, Jod, and the whole family! We all loved Jerry so much!” Bell wrote on Instagram. “I was lucky enough to know Jerry since I was young. At times he felt like a father figure (maybe because we all wanted John Abbott as our father) and sometimes he’d remind me of my dad, but more often with all the events we’ve had, filled with laughs, he was the kindest man and the sweetest friend, and I will miss him so much! Again, feel so fortunate for the group lunch date a few weeks ago. Thank you to Eileen, Peter, and Kym for making that special memory possible! ❤️ Rest In Peace Jerry and Happy Birthday! You will be very missed! Love you, Kym!❤️”

Sharing a selection of photos of her and Douglas over the years, Davidson said on Instagram that he was: “One of a kind. I owe him so much and I will love him forever. ❤️”

“I had the pleasure of working with Jerry Douglas for many years at Y&R,” Linder wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo that also included Sharon Case (Sharon), Tamara Clatterbuck (ex-Alice), and Lauren Woodland (ex-Brittany). “My heart and thoughts are with Kym, Hunter, and the entire Douglas family. Jerry will be sorely missed.”

“I’m so glad we had this time together,” wrote the actress on Instagram, sharing several throwback photos of her and Douglas from years past. “I am heartbroken at the loss of my friend who was like family to me. My thoughts, prayers, and love are with your beautiful wife and my dear friend, Kym, and your amazing children, Hunter, Avra, and Jod. ❤️”

A picture says a thousand words, and this photo that Davidson shared summed up his friendship with Douglas. “Need I say more…” he wrote on Instagram. “God bless you and yours. Kym and Hunter, God’s peace.”
