Soap fans knew Alison Sweeney was talented from her time as Sami on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, but now the actress is showing off a whole new side… screenwriter! She’s penned the script for her upcoming Hallmark Channel movie One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery!

“The news is out!” Sweeney cheered on X/Twitter. “I’ve written my first script for Hallmark and it’s our next Hannah Swensen movie… with fellow DAYS alumni Victor Webster (ex-Nicholas). Can’t wait for you to see it!”

Outside of daytime, Sweeney has found great success starring in Hallmark movies including the Hannah Swensen series, which debuted back in 2015 with Murder She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. As Hallmark continued producing movies based on the Joanne Fluke book series, the titles changed to A Hannah Swensen Mystery with the 2021 installment, Sweet Revenge.

In addition to Sweeney penning the script, One Bad Apple also introduces a new male lead in Webster’s attorney Chad Norton, taking over for police detective Mike Kingston, who was played by Cameron Mathison (Drew, GENERAL HOSPITAL). (Mathison signed a multi-picture deal with Great American Media back in November.)

Sweeney is no stranger to working with Webster, having done so on DAYS as well as in The Wedding Veil trilogy of movies she did for Hallmark Channel. “I’ve always loved working with Victor,” Sweeney told TV Insider. “From our years in daytime to our work together on The Wedding Veil. When writing the script and developing this movie, I knew he’d be a great addition to the Hannah Swensen family and I’m thrilled that he said yes.”

One Bad Apple is based on Fluke’s 2010 novel Apple Turnover Murder and should premiere later this year on the Hallmark Channel. Keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for updates!
