We hope that this means good things are ahead for DAYS OF OUR LIVES: NBC’s sole remaining soap has resumed production less than a month after going on hiatus amid renewal talks with the network! In a series of Instagram stories posted on May 4, Tamara Braun (Ava) shared behind-the-scenes videos of herself, accented with animated “back to work” stickers. And just so there was no confusion as to where, exactly, she was working, the actress tagged the soap’s official Instagram profile in her post!
In the clips, Braun donned a black face mask and eyeglasses as she walked through the studio. The first clip had the actress cheerfully singing the Dwarf chorus theme from the classic Disney cartoon Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. “Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s back to work I go,” the Emmy winner chirped. In the second slide, Braun shared more of her surroundings with her followers. “Behind the scenes, back to work from our hiatus,” she shared. “Hope everyone’s doing well. Just going to get my little lashes on.”
The third slide had Braun showing off the fake trees and greenery that are used to decorate some DAYS sets. “You think it’s real? It’s not real,” she confessed. “A lot of you don’t think it’s real. But if you did, now you know.” And in her fourth video, Braun wished her followers a good day. “Be happy, be kind. Be joyful and safe,” she shared.
In each of her four behind-the-scenes videos, Braun made it clear that she was “back to work” at DAYS, as she tagged the official DAYS Instagram handle in each slide. That particular detail is certainly a good sign for the soap’s future. As previously reported, DAYS wrapped production on its 56th season in mid-April, with enough episodes banked to air into September. The soap’s hiatus corresponded with ongoing renewal negotiations between NBC and Sony Pictures Television, which produces the soap in conjunction with Corday Productions.
At the time that the soap went dark, an insider told TVLine that the writers were continuing to plot out storylines as “everyone is proceeding under the assumption that the show will be back.” And Deadline reported that “if-come deals” were made with “key cast members” — which meant that those actors committed to returning to the soap if and when the time came and wouldn’t be paid until that happened.
So while a formal announcement has yet to be made by the network, we have our fingers and toes crossed that Braun being back to work at DAYS is good news, and that word of an official renewal will be coming any day now!
