The return of Rikaart — who also plays THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Kevin — to the NBC sudser was first announced in a promo video featuring Billy Flynn (Chad), who teased that he had some good news and bad news. “The good news, two of my closest friends are coming home to Salem,” Flynn told the camera, as the clip cut away to a DAYS scene where Chad greeted Zach Tinker’s Sonny and Chandler Massey’s Will. Then came the bad news. “Leo Stark,” Flynn flatly stated, as the video then cut to a scene of Rikaart’s character. “Hey, you can like the guy,” Flynn declared. “I think he’s a tool.”
Reposting the DAYS promo on Twitter, Rikaart wrote, “I’m so excited for Leo’s return to Salem. Great stuff ahead!”
So, what brings Leo back to town this time around? Based on the teaser, Chad is enlisted by Sonny and Will for some help in “exploiting” the troublemaker’s weaknesses — and he doesn’t exactly seem to be on board with what his friends have in mind for him!
Coincidentally — or not? — Leo’s arrival in town comes shortly after Chloe’s dad, Craig, revealed to his daughter and his wife, Nancy, that he is gay… and has a new boyfriend. Reluctantly, Chloe agreed to meet her dad’s beau over dinner since the guy is headed to Salem, and asked Brady to join her for moral support. Something tells us Chloe and Brady’s double date with Craig and his boyfriend will be full of awkward tension!
Rikaart made his DAYS debut as Leo in 2018 for a multi-episode arc, returning that November as a contract player. He exited in March 2019, appearing again on the April Fool’s Day standalone episode on April 1, 2020. Most recently, Rikaart revived his role for the DAYS Peacock spin-off, BEYOND SALEM, and the holiday movie special, A Very Salem Christmas. Throughout his time back and forth on DAYS, Rikaart continued to work on Y&R, and there’s no indication that his latest Salem visit will have any impact on his time in Genoa City.
While we wait for Rikaart’s return to DAYS as Leo, check out the teaser below!
