Harper Barash Gets An Adorable New Puppy!
Turning 10 years old on Jan. 7 was a big moment for soap scion Harper Rose Barash, the daughter of daytime stars Brandon Barash (Stefan, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GENERAL HOSPITAL). Not only did the tween celebrate her big double-digit birthday, but her dad and stepmom, Isa, gifted her with the cutest four-legged present: a puppy!
Harper’s proud pop announced the newest Barash family member on Instagram, sharing a photo of his smitten daughter cuddling the cute black and white dog with a red ribbon around his neck. “Ultimate surprise for the ultimate 10th birthday girl,” the DAYS star captioned the sweet snapshot. “Could not be more proud of my baby girl as she enters her second decade with grace, gratitude, compassion, selflessness, intelligence, and love.”
The actor — who also played GH’s Johnny — added that because of those qualities they see in their daughter, he and his wife felt that Harper was now old enough to “pass all that on” in taking care of a pet. “And because we’re masochists. Because, you know, having a newborn isn’t enough,” Barash joked, referring to the couple’s almost-four-month-old son, Joaquin. “Welcome to the family, Bowie.”
Bowie’s adoption comes about a year and a half after the Barashes had to say goodbye to their beloved dog, Schmuli. The white boxer died in May 2022 after more than 12 years by the actor’s side. “The house is quieter yet imbued with lingering long-lasting love,” Barash wrote in a loving tribute to Schmuli at the time. “Schmuli moved on and has left legend status in his wake. He loved and protected his family furrriously and chomped his crunchy water (ice) tenaciously.”
While Bowie will never replace Schmuli in the Barash household, we’re sure the family is loving the sounds of paws on the floor once again and the doggie cuddles. And we can’t wait to see future photos of Harper and her baby brother with their puppy as Bowie — and the Barash kids! — all grow up together!
