Laura Wright Tests Positive for COVID

Tags:

The COVID pandemic is still an ongoing concern around the world and it has not only struck GENERAL HOSPITAL star Laura Wright (Carly) but stranded her in Colorado where she had been enjoying a wonderful vacation with real-life beau Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter) and family.

“Amazing vacation, not so amazing ending,” the actress shared in her Instagram Stories, sharing a snapshot of her at-home COVID test reading a positive result. “Been isolating in Fort Collins — watching every serial killer show ever made. #Netflix” She also added another hashtag to indicate that she is missing her Kimba, the adorable little pup belonging to her and Ramsey.

Carly has been in the middle of a huge front-burner storyline on GH right now with her ill-advised investment in the ELQ/Aurora merger that didn’t happen costing Carly her half of the Metro Court Hotel. Plus, she’s continued clashing with Nina over the fact that she stole Sonny from her and his family.

At this time there’s been no official word as to whether or not GH will simply backburner Carly while Wright is in isolation and unable to return to California and the ABC studio for work or if they might consider recasting the role in the meantime.

Temporary recasts have become rather common of late on GH, with THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Robert Adamson (ex-Noah) stepping in as Michael when COVID kept Chad Duell away from the set. Thankfully, as part of the mandate handed down by ABC/Disney, all the cast and crew of GH are fully vaccinated against the virus, so we’re hoping that Wright’s symptoms remain mild and she’ll be back to work in no time!
