Lindsay Hartley Shares a Message With GENERAL HOSPITAL Fans
Fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL should probably be used to unexpected temporary recasts by now, but they were still taken by surprise in the Jan. 2 episode when Lindsay Hartley once again filled in for Kelly Monaco as Sam. And as opposed to the Josslyn recast, this was just for the one episode (like the Maxie recast!) because Monaco was back on screen on Jan. 4.
Still, Hartley took to social media to express her gratitude to both the soap and its fans for letting her play in their sandbox once more. “Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity, GH,” she shared on Instagram. “Always a bit scary stepping into those big shoes, but the support and love is so greatly appreciated. I love the soap genre and it will always have a magically special place in my heart. So many wonderful memories and so many extraordinary fans. Happy New Year.”
Lindsay Hartley got her big break with her daytime debut as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on PASSIONS in 1999, a role she played for the entire duration of the NBC sudser. She then went on to take over the role of Arianna Hernandez on DAYS OF OUR LIVES from 2009-10. Shortly after that run wrapped up, the actress joined the cast of ALL MY CHILDREN as the newly-created character of Cara Castilo. She appeared on the ABC soap through to its final network episode and then reprised the role for its sadly short-lived online revival.
In recent years, Hartley has starred in numerous television movies like Deadly Exchange, Romance at Reindeer Lodge, and My Mother’s Split Personalities. She has also written and directed multiple movies like Sinister Cover-Up, Dare to Say Yes, and A Christmas Frequency.
Hartley previously filled in for Monaco back in 2020 and 2022, and fans have enjoyed her appearances so much that some even wished that GH would find a new role for her to play on a more permanent basis. And some viewers who watched her on PASSIONS keep hoping to see her share a scene with her former co-star (and real-life gal pal) Brooke Kerr (Whitney), who is now playing Portia on GH. Oh well, maybe next time!
