Manny on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need to Know

Manny makes for a memorable villain on GENERAL HOSPITAL but as his reign of terror was many years ago, some viewers might not remember all of it. The character was played by Robert LaSardo from his introduction in 2005 until his violent death in 2006. The actor also portrayed Manny’s twin brother, Mateo, on GH from 2006-2007, but that guy was a priest so he was much nicer!

Manny Ruiz came to Port Charles with his brother Javier at the request of Lorenzo Alcazar, who wanted to take down the Corinthos organization but couldn’t do it himself as he was supposed to be out of the business at the time. Manny sent his brother after Sonny Corinthos but he fought back and Jason Morgan stepped in to save his boss by shooting Javier. When the head of the Ruiz family arrived and agreed to back down, Manny refused to do so and killed his own father, blaming Jason for making him do it.

As the Alcazar/Corinthos mob battle continued, Manny became more and more obsessed with exacting revenge on Jason and followed him and Sam McCall to Hawaii where he tortured them for a while before the police arrived. Once he got back to Port Charles, Manny decided to hurt Jason through the people he loved, killing Carly’s father, John Durant, and stalking Sam. When he was finally captured, Manny was diagnosed with a brain tumor and after its removal, he was a changed man. Although many were skeptical, Alexis Davis defended him against his criminal charges.

But the skeptics were right and Manny was faking his new attitude. After he kidnapped Elizabeth Webber and Jason shot him, Manny fell into the harbor and was presumed dead. But when Sam was later shot, Manny was the one responsible! He abducted Sam and held her in the basement at the hospital. When Jason came to the rescue, their struggle took them all the way up to the roof where Lucky Spencer got off a shot that sent Manny reeling over the edge to his death. Although the autopsy revealed no bullet wound, meaning it was Jason’s push that was responsible for ending Manny’s life.
