Teresa Castillo Stars in “In the Heights”
If you miss seeing Teresa Castillo as Sabrina on GENERAL HOSPITAL, you can look forward to seeing the actress on stage as she stars in a new production of In the Heights, the musical from Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda! The show will be playing at the Palos Verdes Performing Arts Center from Friday, April 28, through Sunday, April 30, and then again from Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7. “Come to my show!” Castillo enthused on Instagram.
Castillo will be starring as Vanessa, played by Karen Olivo in the original Broadway cast and by Melissa Barrera in the 2021 feature film adaptation. In the show, Vanessa is the love interest for Usnavi, the main character, and dreams of getting out of the barrio and becoming a fashion designer downtown. Castillo has played this role before in another production of the musical.
“HI friends,” Castillo said in a selfie video she took outside the theater to promote the show, “I am here at the Norris Theater in Palos Verdes, CA, where we are rehearsing In the Heights. This cast is phenomenal. It’s going to be so great. This show is gonna be awesome. Our singers are out of this world. The dancers… just like, unbelievable. And the story just has so much heart.
“Anyway, we are performing for two weekends only,” she added. “If you are in the L.A. area, please come. We would love to see you. And make sure you say ‘Hi’ after the show!”
Castillo earned legions of devoted daytime fans when she joined the cast of GH back in September 2012 as nurse Sabrina Santiago. And those fans were absolutely heartbroken when the character was killed off just four years later. The actress has been focused on her family with husband Shane Aaron — eight-year-old Victoria and seven-year-old Sebastian — but has also appeared in the TV movie Most Wanted Santa and has done voice work for the animated series MADAGASCAR: A LITTLE WILD.
