After he discovered that Sheila was still alive, Deacon was thrilled to make her his wife on The Bold & The Beautiful… although he’ may be pretty much the only one. Let’s just say that when the couple ties the knot, the ceremony will be very sparsely attended!

“I don’t think he cares,” Sean Kanan told Soap Opera Digest about public opinion of his love story. “I mean, Deacon’s been a pariah before. There are a couple of people [whose opinion] Deacon cares about. Obviously Hope, and I think he does care about Brooke’s opinion as a friend. He’s always wanted her approval and to prove that he’s worthy of being with her, if not as a romantic partner, then as somebody who’s worth being a co-parent in their daughter’s life

“Deacon doesn’t give a [crap] about what Ridge or Bill or anyone else thinks,” the actor continued. “Also, Deacon really believes that Sheila has turned a corner and has made some significant changes in her life. We’ll see if that proves to be true.”

Although Finn declined to stand up as Deacon’s best man at the ceremony, to be held at Il Giardino where the couple fell in love with each other, the groom is happy that Hope will be in attendance. “That means everything to him,” Kanan explained. “Deacon was willing to marry Sheila without Hope’s blessing, although that would have been difficult for him because he values his daughter on so many levels. He disappointed her early in her life and he absolutely does not want to be anything but a source of support and strength for her.”

Believing that Sheila has turned a corner and is no longer the dangerous psychotic murderer everyone else believes her to be, Deacon is confident that they can make a future together… if she can stay on target and stop obsessing over having a mother/son relationship with Finn. “She is fixated on that happening and it represents a potential point of danger,” Kanan warns. “Everything could come crashing down if she pulls any crazy Sheila stunts.”
