Darin Brooks Opens up About His Series Being Canceled

While Darin Brooks continues to play Wyatt on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, the actor is disappointed that his Apple TV+ series, AMBER BROWN, has been canceled after just one season. “Aw, man I’m so bummed and am really gonna miss these crazy kids!” he shared on Instagram. “So… we didn’t get picked up today. But onward and upward! This was such an uber-talented and insanely funny group of people! Honestly, I had a blast working with you all!”

Based on the series of children’s books by the late Paula Danziger, AMBER BROWN followed the titular character as she navigated the trials and tribulations of school, her best friend moving away, her parents divorcing and her mom dating again. Amber was played by Carsyn Rose, and GREY’S ANATOMY’s Sarah Drew played her mom, Sarah. Brooks played Mom’s new boyfriend, Max, who Amber was not particularly impressed by!

Brooks also expressed his appreciation for everyone involved in the development of AMBER BROWN, including series creator Bonnie Hunt. “Thank you to the incredible and legendary Bonnie Hunt for giving me this opportunity!” he enthused. “Your generosity speaks volumes and the love you put into every single word of your writing is truly inspiring.”

The B&B star also had kind words for his former castmates. “Carsyn, you’re a freaking rock star!” he declared. “I can’t wait to see what you do next! Sarah, thank you for playing and dancing with me every day! It was truly a pleasure and you’re such a joy to work with! Ashley Williams, thank you for always making me freaking crack up every single day! You’re amazing!”

He also urged fans to check out the heartwarming family series. “If you haven’t seen AMBER BROWN on Apple TV+,” Brooks said, “I highly highly suggest you go watch it right now by yourself, with a loved one, or with the fam-bam! It has such heart, love and is just a fun, hilarious family comedy! I’m gonna miss you all and as they say… Until we meet again! I’ll see ya on the next one! Break a leg!”
