Heather Tom Pulls Double Duty at B&B!
Soap fans know just how talented Heather Tom is having watched her on three different soap operas and racking up 19 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and six wins over the course of her career. And many of them also know she’s an equally talented director… but did you know she can do them both at the same time?
“Pulling double duty,” Tom shared on Instagram. “Acting and directing on the same day! What else you got?” The photos show how she aced the challenge, directing from the control room and speaking to the actors on set while her hair was still pinned up and then all camera-ready for scenes with Don Diamont (Bill).
Tom kicked off her daytime career as Victoria Newman on The Young & The Restless back in 1990, and switched networks to play Kelly Cramer on ABC’s One Life To Live from 2004-06 before returning to CBS in 2007 to take over the role of Katie Logan on B&B. In 2016, She stepped behind the camera to direct some short films and helm episodes of primetime series like Good Trouble and Dynasty as well as Y&R and B&B. Right now, Tom has helmed nearly three dozen episodes of the soap that she also appears on.
Fans and friends offered Tom kudos for multitasking so brilliantly, including B&B’s Ashley Jones (Bridget) and Y&R’s Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) and Lauralee Bell (Christine), who commented with applause and hands-up emojis.
Now, if Tom wants to add yet another skill to her already impressive resume, she could always pen some scripts for B&B like co-star Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter), who has been writing for the soap since 2015! We’re sure he’d have some great advice!
