Jennifer Gareis on Her Heartbreaking B&B Storyline

After Eric and Quinn called it quits, Donna was finally able to have her “honey bear” back but unfortunately, their happiness was short-lived as Eric’s health took a turn for the worse on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. As the veteran designer struggles to keep it together as he prepares his couture collection for the fashion face-off with Ridge, Donna has been by his side throughout. But how long can she keep up that unconditional support?
“Donna is pretty strong but to carry this load by herself and be the only support system — well, along with RJ — it is pretty hard,” Jennifer Gareis admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “It’s not a selfish thing, either. But, his children should know. To not tell your children just seems wrong, especially if something were to happen. If this was happening with my parents, I’d be very upset if they didn’t say something to me concerning their health. Donna thinks that being surrounded by love and support would make Eric feel better.”

Eric has been adamant that no one knows about his illness, especially not Ridge as the father and son prepare for their heated runway battle. But now that Katie has overheard the news that Eric is dying, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before the rest of the family knows the tragic truth.
As the storyline continues to unfold, Gareis is relishing every single scene she shares with co-star John McCook (Eric). “No one could play Eric better,” she declared, “and you just fall in love with Eric, and John McCook, the way he does it. He’s funny. He is charming. He is talented in music and art. He brings so much of himself into the character. He can be touching, and then funny… He has so many layers. He is just fascinating to watch. I love working with John and I think he is doing a wonderful job with this story.”
