John McCook Reveals the Love of Eric’s Life on B&B

Eric Forrester has been a major character on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL for over 35 years (since the soap premiered back in 1987!) so he’s had quite the roller coaster of a love life during that time. He’s married Stephanie, Brooke, Sheila, Donna, and Quinn, but also enjoyed romances with Lauren and Taylor among others. But which woman is truly the love of Eric’s life?

“I think when he comes to the end of his life and he thumbs through the pages as it were, it would be Stephanie,” John McCook admitted to Soap Opera Digest of who his character’s heart ultimately belongs to. “She was his partner in procreation and making their business a success and raising a family of wonderful children who are smart and talented people.

“She’s the biggest reason for his success, and so he gives her that respect gladly,” the actor continued. “She deserves a lot of credit and I don’t think that will ever change, no matter how much he feels he’s in love with Quinn or Donna or anybody else.”

Over the years, Eric would consistently stray but ultimately return to Stephanie and the dynasty that they had built together. “His signature was always wanting to please Stephanie, yet wanting to please someone else, like Brooke or Lauren,” McCook explained. “He always has his eye on someone else because they have eyes on him, and he is flattered by that. He thrives on that.”

Of course, sleeping with Donna while being married to Quinn has created a ticking time bomb that’s about ready to blow up in Eric’s face! “I cannot defend Eric’s behavior here,” McCook insisted of his current storyline on the soap. “I don’t believe Eric can defend it, either. He knows why he’s doing it but he can’t defend it, and I think that’s why he’s at a loss for what’s going on in his life right now.”
