Karla Mosley Says Goodbye to THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL

Tags:

Actress Karla Mosley posted a video to Instagram she admitted she’d been reluctant to shoot regarding her status as Maya at THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. “Many of you have been messaging me for some time asking about when Maya will come back,” she confided, “and with her still being in the credits, there was some possibility that she might come back, But many of you have let me know that she’s been removed from the credits this week so I think we have to finally say that she will not be back — at least for now — on B&B. And while I am disappointed that she wasn’t honored with a goodbye that matched the importance of her presence on the show, I also know that that’s how it goes on soaps.”

Mosley, who made her daytime debut playing Christina on GUIDING LIGHT from 2008-09, joined the cast of B&B in 2013 and made daytime history when her character was revealed to be transgender and married Rick Forrester in 2015. But by 2019, Mosley was taken off-contract and made only a handful of appearances that year, the last one being in the May 30 episode.

“More than talking about her not returning I just wanted to celebrate all that she was on B&B,” Mosley said of her historical role. “I was surprised to play her. I was surprised that I got to play her for over six years. And I was certainly surprised by the trajectory of her character. Obviously, when she decided to disclose that she is trans it was groundbreaking in many ways. And I think personally, and in the world, it made ripples that we continue to see and I’m just really proud of the work that we did.”

The actress concluded her video by expressing her gratitude for the fans who have continued to follow her over the years. “Thank you for your support and for your love for her,” Mosley declared, “for your open-mindedness as we learned more about her, for your acceptance of her love for Rick and celebration of the birth of her child, Lizzy, through surrogacy. What an amazing journey for this woman and I am grateful to have been on the ride with all of you.

“And do not think that this will be the last of me,” she promised. “I have some really fun stuff coming up even over the next weeks. I’ll be announcing some stuff that’s coming out over the holidays and there are always twists and turns because I don’t know how to stop making things!”
