Katherine Kelly Lang Returns to THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL!
Brooke is back! A little over three weeks after THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL star Katherine Kelly Lang broke her ankle while horseback riding, the fan favorite returned to work at the soap. And since the actress still can’t put any weight on her foot for a few more weeks, she’s getting some help from a mobility aid to zip around the CBS Television City, where B&B tapes!
In an Instagram story, Lang shared a boomerang video of her on a KneeRover scooter as she zipped back and forth in front of the iconic B&B Stage 31 wall at the soap’s studio. “Thank you, KneeRover, for helping me get around at work and at home with my broken ankle,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post.
As it turns out, the KneeRover scooter is just one of three mobility aids Lang has to move about while her ankle heals. Lang explained in her post that co-star Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) had given her a wheelchair to use, and the soap’s executive team got her an electric sitting scooter to use as well. “All of them come in handy!” raved Lang. “I really appreciate everyone’s help to make my life a bit easier at this moment in time.”
Lang’s injury happened on May 7, while she was horseback riding with a group of friends, training for a race she was supposed to participate in later this month. “At around 16 miles, I got off my horse to walk down a steep and very rocky trail to give her a break,” the actress and equestrian explained at the time. “At the bottom of the trail, I tripped on a rock and my left foot took the pounding. My ankle and foot dislocated off to the left at a 90-degree angle to my leg.”
The star’s specific injury was called a trimalleolar fracture with dislocation, as Lang noted in a hashtag on her recent post — and affects the section of your leg that forms the ankle joint and helps move the foot and ankle. Lang had to undergo surgery that night to repair three broken bones in her ankle with rods, pins, and screws, and was not allowed to put any weight on her ankle for at least six weeks.
Lang shared that she was “grateful” to be back at work, where a lovely bouquet of flowers and a get-well card from her colleagues were waiting for her in her dressing room, as she showed off in another Instagram story. “Glad to see you back on stage!” wrote her TV stepson, Matthew Atkinson (Thomas). Added Krista Allen (Taylor): “We are all here for you and love you! You did so good today!”
There has been no official word on whether or not Lang’s injury will be written into the show, but since the actress can’t put any weight on that foot for several more weeks, you can expect Brooke to be seated in scenes for a while. But we are happy to see that she has returned to work at the soap and we continue to send her wishes for a speedy recovery!
