Why Did Taylor Shoot Bill on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL?

As viewers were getting over the shock of Bill teaming up with Sheila, some also found themselves trying to remember why did Taylor shoot Bill on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL! The storyline unfolded in the spring of 2018, so let us refresh your memory of how it all went down!

Bill had been making enemies all over town, which is usually the first indication that a soap is leading up to a whodunnit of some kind. Folks like Sally and Justin hated Bill for business reasons, but the guy’s affair with Steffy had turned both the Forrester and Spencer families against him. Wyatt’s relationship with Katie also pitted him against his father. So when the lights in Bill’s house went out during a storm and shots rang out, there was no end of suspects.

Thomas and Caroline’s return to Los Angeles added them to the lengthening list and it appeared that while nearly everyone had motive, not everyone had opportunity. And since Bill had been shot in the back, once he recovered in the hospital, he was unable to identify his attacker. Bill insisted it had been Ridge, since they’d had a massive fistfight just before the shooting, but things got even more complicated when Liam confessed to the crime, believing he’d done it!

But after a few months of investigations, confessions, and red herrings, the shocking truth was finally revealed. Taylor (then played by Hunter Tylo) returned to Los Angeles to reveal that she had been the one who’d shot him! Confronting Bill about taking advantage of Steffy and possibly fathering her baby instead of Liam, he wondered why she hadn’t visited her daughter as soon as she’d learned about the affair from Ridge. Taylor explained that she had, and it was a dark and stormy night… when she put a bullet in his back!

The reason why Taylor didn’t end up in jail at the time is because Steffy begged Bill not to turn her mother in and for her sake, he agreed. The shrink was also clearly in need of some psychiatric help herself, and she agreed to get it. However, Bill did ask Steffy to finally sign the annulment papers to end her marriage to Liam in exchange for his silence. (Not that it helped him make any progress in wooing Steffy himself…) However, now Bill has gotten mixed up with Sheila, and is once again using Taylor’s crime to force Steffy and Finn to do his bidding and keep Sheila out of prison!
