Check Out This Sweet Chelsea and Adam Reunion!

They may no longer be co-stars on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, but Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) and Justin Hartley (ex-Adam) are still close pals. So, when the latter’s popular NBC primetime drama, THIS IS US, ended its six-season run on May 24, Egan was sure to give her buddy all of her support.

A few days after the THIS IS US finale aired, Egan shared a picture of her “reunion” with Hartley on Instagram, joking that she was doing “just some casual reading” of his Haute Living magazine story. “Congrats to my dear friend for an incredible THIS IS US run, this Haute Living cover, and being able to pull off a pink suit,” Egan wrote. “Chelsea would be proud! As am I.”

Hartley, who had previously played Fox Crane on PASSIONS, joined the cast of Y&R in November 2014 as Victor’s son and Adam and Chelsea became one of Genoa City’s most popular couples. The actor filmed the pilot for THIS IS US in the spring of 2016 and worked on both shows for several months until his soap storyline could be wrapped up.

As long-time Y&R viewers will remember, Chelsea and Adam were planning to run away together when he “died” in a cabin explosion back in 2017. That plot point was derived to facilitate Hartley’s exit from the soap after THIS IS US was picked by NBC for a full-season order. “Although I am saying goodbye to Y&R, this is not a goodbye letter. I felt it was more important to write a thank-you note,” the fan-favorite wrote upon his departure from the soap. “Each and every one of you helped make my time on the show enjoyable. I always loved hearing about how excited all of you were for certain characters, how disgusted you were with others, at times even mine, or how we were able to help you escape from a hectic day. You are some of the most loyal and dedicated fans I’ve ever encountered. You are truly the heart of the show. It simply does not work without you. I wanted to thank you for that.”

Ever since, Hartley’s fans have been holding out hope that he might reappear on Y&R one day. When Hartley posted a picture on Instagram of himself with his THIS IS US siblings Sterling K. Brown and Chrissy Metz writing, “I’m going to miss seeing these faces every day,” his post was met with plenty of comments from fans — and even some other soap stars! — wishing that he’d return to daytime. “Come back to Y&R,” wrote Jennifer Garies, who plays THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL’s Donna. “Better yet, across the hall to B&B.”

Anything is possible in daytime, so stay tuned to see where Hartley’s career takes him next!
