Chelsea’s Nurse on Y&R Is Played by Melissa Claire Egan’s Friend, Evelina Martinez!
That’s actress Evelina Martinez playing Nurse Meredith on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS! And if you notice any special chemistry between Chelsea and her nurse, it’s because the actresses are friends in real life! “How lucky am I that my dear friend Evelina was cast as my nurse?” marveled Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea). “She’s fantastic!”
Martinez shared a screenshot of a Y&R episode featuring the two actresses on her own Instagram to celebrate the gig herself. “Chelsea is well taken care of!” she declared. “Nurse Meredith is on her side.” In the comments of that post, Egan praised her pal. “You’re the best nurse and scene partner ever!” she cheered. “This is so fun!”
DAYS OF OUR LIVES alum Kate Mansi (ex-Abigail) commented on Egan’s post, joking, “Look at you employing all your loved ones. I’m obsessed with this!” Although Egan likely had little to do with Y&R casting Martinez as Chelsea’s nurse, she was partly responsible for her real-life husband, Matt Katrosar, making two separate appearances on Y&R.
First, he was the masked assailant who broke into Chelsea’s home and abducted her, and then he returned as the EMT who helped treat Chelsea when she collapsed and dialed 911 for help. In both instances, Egan’s character needed to be in close physical contact with another person, something difficult to do with the current COVID-19 safety protocols. But since Katrosar is Egan’s real-life husband, they can safely interact on screen!
There’s no telling how long Martinez will be on Y&R as Nurse Meredith, given that if she’s particularly good at her job, Chelsea should be up and about in no time and therefore won’t need a nurse when she’s fully recovered! But stay tuned to see how the story unfolds!
