THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Courtney Hope Reveals Sally’s True Feelings for Jack on Y&R (EXCLUSIVE)

Sally had big plans when she moved to Genoa City, but a romance between Sally Spectra and Jack Abbott on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS was not exactly one of them! “I don’t think Sally was looking for love at all after everything that happened with Wyatt,” portrayer Courtney Hope admitted to Soaps In Depth. “So it was like, ‘Work, work, work. I need to make something of myself.’”

However, it was through that work that Sally began spending more and more time with Jack, and what started off as a mentorship is beginning to grow into something much deeper. “Having somebody that cares about her well-being and how well she does and kind of giving her those tips and guidelines for how to succeed and stand up for herself around other people,” Hope mused. “I think through that, it’s created a bond that was unforeseen and unexpected.”

After all the drama with Sally’s failed romance with Wyatt on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Y&R was meant to be a fresh start for the character, and romance was definitely not part of her plans. “She did not see it coming,” the actress said of Sally’s feelings for the Abbott patriarch. “It was just kind of like, ‘Wow, I actually started to care more for this guy than I expected to.’

“He understands who she is,” Hope continued. “He’s willing to see who she is. He’s willing to listen. A lot of friends in Sally’s life, people are willing to assume. They assume because of the name, the history, they just assume that she’s this rebel without a cause, this vixen or this reprobate. The truth is, all of those things are really just defense mechanisms. And I think he sees that. Because he recognizes it. And I think that’s where Sally, it makes her feel like, ‘Wow, I’m not alone. Somebody can actually see me.’ And that’s exactly what she’s needed.”
