The past few episodes of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS have been incredibly tense, as the Abbott family staged an intervention for Ashley because of her odd actions of late. Of course, the family doesn’t know that she is suffering from split personalities, and as the Abbotts confronted her about her blackouts and erratic behavior, Ashley’s alters were battling it out for control in her mind. The outstanding episode concluded with the real Ashley, exhausted, retreating to her bedroom to rest and big sister Traci following her upstairs to comfort her.

At the end of the episode, Traci lovingly tucked Ashley into bed as the sisters reminisced about their childhood. According to Traci’s portrayer, Beth Maitland, she added a very personal touch to the emotional moment she shared with her TV sister Eileen Davidson: The talented artisan used one of her beautiful handcrafted quilts for the touching scene! “Yes, it was my quilt in today’s episode,” Maitland shared on Instagram. “The show graciously had me bring in a few to choose from.”

In the episode, Traci marveled over the quilt she had made her younger sister for a long-ago celebration. “I made it for your 21st birthday,” Traci told Ashley. “I had no idea you still had it!” In real life, Maitland has turned her sewing hobby into a full-fledged business, selling quilts, table mats, and other handcrafted wares through her Drama Queen Bee Etsy shop.

“Always so fun when worlds collide,” Maitland wrote. “Eileen and I have been sisters nearly 42 years.” The actress also praised Y&R’s writing and directing team for their handling of the delicate scenes. “Thank you, Lindsay Harrison, for the beautiful writing, and Steve Williford for the sensitive directing.”

Not surprisingly, Maitland’s post filled up with comments from followers raving about the heartbreaking scene she shared with her co-star. One comment even came from Davidson herself. “And I love you like a sister! Your work has been amazing. And thank you for being my rock on and off screen.”

We’re sure there is much more to come between these two sisters as Ashley navigates her Dissociative Identity Disorder, so be sure to keep watching!
