Y&R’s Melissa Ordway Wants Her Daughters to Find True Love Like She Has (EXCLUSIVE)
Whenever Valentine’s Day rolls around, you can bet that THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS‘ Melissa Ordway (Abby) and hubby Justin Gaston (ex-Ben, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) will be doing something special for each other. “It’s important — Valentine’s Day gives you an opportunity to celebrate each other as a couple!” the actress said to Soaps In Depth. “We don’t [often] take time for ourselves, because we are always busy with work and the girls, and we kind of forget, ‘Oh yeah, we need to take time for ourselves and just be together!’ Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse for a date night [to] just sit down to dinner, have an adult conversation and reconnect!”
Reconnecting has become even more important now that the couple has two young daughters, Olivia and Sophie, who keep them on their toes. “We don’t have kids that sleep a lot, so having an evening for each other is important!” laughed Ordway. “We don’t get that at home — ever!”
For Ordway, it’s equally important to show Olivia and Sophie what a healthy relationship looks like. “I had great examples with my parents, and Justin had great examples, too, so we want to pass down that tradition,” she shared. “I’m not going to say ‘Oh, marriage is always easy, and we’re always happy.’ It’s not easy! But we want to show them how much we love each other. I want my girls to know what a good man is like.
“I want them to find somebody exactly like their dad,” she continued with a smile. “I don’t want them to settle for anything less than the best — and that is what Justin is! You always want your kids to do better than what you have in your life, but I think I’ve done pretty well for myself! I don’t want to say there is anyone better than Justin, but I just want them to find their perfect match.”
That said, the beauty can’t help but gush a little bit over her choice of spouses! “Justin is such a gentleman,” said Ordway. “He’s the best dad and the best husband and an honest, stand-up guy. I hope that my girls someday find a relationship with someone who is equally as amazing as Justin!”
