“The last time they wanted me back, I wasn’t available and that really depressed me,” the actor admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “This time, I first got the call a few months ago and had been in Ireland shooting a movie, but that’s wrapped, so the timing was perfect and I’m really grateful that it could work out.”
Damian was in Ireland filming a new movie called Irish Wish, which is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2023, following the smash success of his recent streaming holiday hit Falling For Christmas. Of course, having become a successful producer and director, it was challenging — but enlightening — for the actor to step back in front of the camera again.
“I really appreciate the opportunity to do this because it helps me reconnect and understand what the actors are going through,” Damian admitted. “You kind of assume that all those words are going to come out exactly as scripted, but that’s not always the case. So [going back to Y&R] has helped me a great deal as a filmmaker.”
Danny’s last visit to Genoa City was back in 2013, when he attended Katherine Chancellor’s funeral, but this time around he’s just swinging by to spend the holidays with his family and friends. “Without giving too much away,” Damian previewed, “Danny is on tour and he has a break, so he’s popping in for the holidays and checking on everybody.
“I have to say that the writing is exceptional,” he added. “A lot of emotions and history play out. Even if you’re not a new viewer, you’ll still get a good sense of the journey and be able to jump right in. You won’t get lost at all.”
Stay tuned to Y&R to see Danny’s return and how he reconnects with everyone!
