Amanda’s confrontation with her birth mother on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS was full of emotional scenes that had viewers glued to their seats. “it was such an honor making art with this beautiful soul,” Mishael Morgan (Amanda) said of working with daytime newcomer Ptosha Story, who is playing Naya Benedict.
In the powerful scenes, Amanda was finally able to confront the birth mother she’d never known to find out why she and her twin sister, Hilary, were not only given up for adoption but separated at birth. After learning her birth father had passed away in a car accident shortly after her birth, Amanda informed Naya that Hilary had also died in the same way. She lashed out at the woman for robbing her of her sister and angrily declared that she had been the one who missed out by giving them away.
As Y&R fans reached out on social media to praise Morgan’s performance, some even admitted that as adopted children, they felt Amanda’s pain. “I am so sad to hear that happened to you,” the actress replied to one viewer who revealed that his biological father was not kind when they finally met. “But thank you for this message. This is why I do what I do. Your praise means the world to me.”
One fan suggested that this episode should be Morgan’s Daytime Emmy Award reel but when they added that she should submit it ASAP, the daytime star had to admit that’s not how the process works. “Have to wait until next year,” Morgan explained. “But thank you.”
Morgan is proud of the work that everyone did in this storyline, from the actors involved to those behind the scenes who helped bring it to the screen. ‘Thanks for all the heartfelt comments,” she said to everyone on social media who reached out. “I really wanted to do this storyline justice for every person who felt this kind of abandonment. It was my honor.”
Stay tuned for even more powerful performances from Morgan as Amanda’s storyline continues to unfold!
